Quotes That Won't Quit - What People are Saying in the Press
(and Otherwise!)
"Worst Building, Editors' Choice - Anything from BCN Development. If developer Craig Nassi stays true to form, his new Beauvallon, on Ninth Avenue and Lincoln Street, may be the worst building in Denver in just another year or so. For now, the least appropriate to the Triangle neighborhood, most clumsily detailed, and outrageously priced piles in Denver have to be the Prado and its ugly stepsister the Belvedere Tower." - 5280 Magazine, June/July 2003, Top of the Town 2003 Worst Stuff.
"Nassi on the other hand has been criticized for buildings that look nice on the outside but are built on the cheap. Not so Nassi contends, he relies on industry-standard fixtures to please the mid-level buyer. "My high-end clients are going to customize their units anyway so why should I invest in fancy fixtures they're going to change to suit their taste? You know, you can buy a pair of shoes for $200 or you can spend $1,000. I'm not going to spend $1,000 on shoes for someone I've never met." Well, almost nothing, unless you count paving a parking lot atop the Aura footprint as something.” Read the entire article

“Developer snaps up remaining River Oaks high-rise condos”, Houston Business Journal, April 6, 2007 by Jennifer Dawson Houston Business Journal: A condominium developer that tried unsuccessfully to build a high-rise in Houston several years ago, now has sky-high units to offer after purchasing all the remaining condos for sale in the 33-story Royalton at River Oaks. Original developer Simmons Vedder & Co. ultimately sold the residential tower to Denver-based BCN Development in January 2005 for $225 per square foot. Principals Craig Nassi and Laurence Hallier of BCN Development were able to sell 167 units, or two-thirds of the building’s residences, before getting out of the deal last week…”It’s a textbook case of someone from out of town over-estimating the high-rise demand in the Houston Market,” Personette says.” Read the entire article
